2017 BGSU Graduate Conference in Music

Moore Musical Arts Center, Bowling Green, OH

February 24-25, 2017

Our call for works extends to all current graduate students (master’s and doctoral) from any institution. Senior undergraduates who are applying to a graduate degree program are welcome to submit with the guidance of a faculty member.

Applicants may submit up to two works for consideration. Each work should be no longer than twelve minutes. The instrumentation is open to solo and chamber works of any instrumental/vocal combination and works involving electronics (up to four channels).

Each work may fit into one category:

A) Works for any instrumentation for which the composer can provide ALL of the required performers

B) Works for 1-5 performers for which the composer cannot provide ALL of the required number of performers

Works involving flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, horn, tuba, violin, viola, cello, double bass, piano, percussion and soprano are more likely to be programmed in category B.

C) Fixed media works up to 4 channels.

Works submitted in categories A and B may also involve electronics (fixed media and/or interactive). Works involving video are also permitted.

The deadline for submissions is Thursday, December 1, 2016. All applicants will be notified of their status by Thursday, December 15, 2016. The composer’s attendance at the conference is required. Do not submit if you cannot attend the conference.

Composers interested in submitting works should fill out the Call for Works Form. Important: Current BGSU students should not fill out the form. An internal call for works will be announced.

For questions regarding the submission, please email Vincent Sauer at vpsauer@bgsu.edu. Please include “BGSU Graduate Student Conference” in the subject.
