Arizona Pro Arte – Call for Scores

One to five (1-5) compositions will be selected and be performed on Arizona Pro Arte’s September 19th, 2015 concert at the Tempe Center for the Arts in Tempe, Arizona with original choreography and dancers by ELEVATE DanceWorks.

Instrumentation

Submissions may consist of any combination of standard orchestral instruments up to eight (8) performers plus prerecorded tape/audio track. Of the performers, a maximum of two may be percussionists. A maximum of one piano may be utilized. Entries with harp will be considered.

Exceptions on instrumentation may be granted on a case by case basis. Exceptions will be considered until one week before the submission deadline. Please use the contact form for exception inquiries here.

Duration

The submitted work may be any number of movements, not to exceed a total of twenty minutes in duration.

Application Fee

There is no application fee for our Call for Scores project.

Submission Limit

Each applicant is allowed to submit only one (1) work for this project. Previously submitted works may be resubmitted.

Award

The winner will receive a performance of his or her work by Arizona Pro Arte with the possibility of professional recording. At this time, there is no planned monetary award, but in the event of a change in award policy, all applicants will be notified immediately and our online rules and regulations will be updated.

Eligibility

Any person of any nationality/age/gender/race is encouraged to apply.

Deadline

The deadline for either method of submission (see methods below) is April 3rd, 2015. Any materials received after this date will not be considered regardless of postmark.

Early submissions are strongly encouraged.

Selection

The winner will be announced via our website on April 17th, 2015.

The winner will be required to supply performance materials (physical or electronic) by no later than July 17th, 2015.

The winner will be required to provide performing rights for this concert.

Arizona Pro Arte retains the right to select no winner for this competition, though we would rather that not happen.

*This is required due to involvement of dancers. Submissions without audio will not be considered.

**Biography is optional. Less emphasis is put on composer biography and more on substance of music.
