Call for Scores: Music Drama Through Art Song

October 11, 2016 in All Opportunities, Composers by mwhiteside

Second annual Call for Scores for Soprano solo, or Soprano and any combination of piano, flute and cello.
This year the pieces should draw inspiration from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, and should be no longer than 10 minutes.

The text is entirely up to the composer as long as he or she has permission to use it. The text does not need to necessarily be from Carroll’s novel, but rather have the whimsical and colourful feeling of his characters.
Ten pieces will be selected and organized cohesively to create a story as part of a bigger Music Drama, which will be performed on April 24th, 2017 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The composers selected will be invited to the concert and will receive an audio and video recording of their piece.

The Project aims to bring composers together in a bigger scale collaboration, and explore and expand the barriers of Art Song and Music Drama. To reach beyond distance and be able to collaborate across the world with other composers.

There is no restriction regarding age or nationality but priority will be given to Canadian Composers.
There is no fee to submit.

The pieces should be emailed to no later than January 6th, 2017.
