Call for Scores: Piano Sonata for solo piano recital

May 8, 2015 in All Opportunities, Composers by mwhiteside

I am currently planning and programming a solo piano recital to take place on November 14, 2015, in the Sanctuary of First Congregational Church of Los Angeles. The recital will consist exclusively of sonatas as I take the audience on a journey that begins with Scarlatti and visits Mozart, Beethoven, Ravel, and Muczynski. I am looking to program a recently composed piano sonata by a living composer to close out this concert. To this end, I am issuing this call for scores. Here are the parameters for my search.

• The piece must be in sonata form (but does not need to have the word ‘sonata’ in the title). It can be a single movement or in multiple movements.
• The length of the entire piece should be between around 10 to 15 minutes.
• The piece should be composed after the year 2000.
• It does not matter if the piece is brand new or has been performed one or more times.
• No prepared piano, please.

I am happy to offer a $200 honorarium to the composer whose piece I select to perform.

DEADLINE: May 23, 2015, with selection to be announced shortly thereafter.
