Call for Women Composers and Music for Flute

Italian flautist and musicologist, Vilma Campitelli, has just completed an enormous project ongoing for the last 20 years. “Compendium Musicae Flauta”.

The volume has information for 13,000 worksfor flute (of all kinds from solo flutes to ensembles with flute) in all genres composed by nearly 3,000 women composers.   It is highly possible that your name is already included in the book. The “Compendium” contains; Names + Information for women composers in all times, countries and genres with date and place of birth, listing of works with flute, names of publishers/recordings (if any) Listing of works according to ensemble ie solo flute, flute with three instruments, flute with eight instruments, flute and chamber orchestra…….. Information about publishers, research centres, and a large bibliography.

The book goes into print in October and if you have not been contacted previously, or have not sent information for inclusion, you may send materials (plus a 10 line general curriculum to: forum@donneinmusica.org before the 22nd September. So if you have  a work for (for example) flute, clarinet and guitar, for 10 flutes, for solo bass flute or for flute and strings, send us the information in list form – ie title, date of composition, instruments, publisher (if any), recording (if any) as quickly as possible.  All materials received will be sent directly to Vilma Campitelli and will also be placed in the Foundation’s Data Banks. Please circulate this to your colleagues, students……This is a UNIQUE opportunity!!!
