Call For Works: The Sleeper Society

November 15, 2016 in All Opportunities, Composers, electroacoustic, Performers by mwhiteside

The Sleeper Society is an experimental music event based in Cardiff, Wales. With roots firmly embedded in sound art, audio/visual and electronic music, we showcase the best of the UK’s experimental music scene, and introduce audiences to a curated programme of submitted works from international artists. Our events provide an informative, friendly and informal environment for audiences to discover new artists, and artists to discover new audiences.

We are inviting composers to submit their compositions to be presented at our next event at Chapter Arts Centre on the 23rd January 2017. The event will be based around the themes of identity, ego, self-construct, and individual vs. society, and we ask that all submissions make a connection with this. The criteria for submissions is:

– Fixed media / live performance / installation

– Max. duration of 8 minutes

– Stereo / Quad speaker setup (please also submit a stereo recording)

– Lossless audio format (.wav / .aif @ 44.1kHz)

– Pieces must be created using electronic means

– All works must be completed in time for the event

Please submit your work by emailing a download link to contact.sleepersociety@gmail.com. A panel will meet in mid-December to consider submissions and decide on a programme. Your submission must consist of a .zip file containing:

– A recording of the piece (.wav / .aif @ 44.1kHz)

– A short bio (150 words max.)

– A short description of the piece (150 words max.)
