Choral Writing Competition: Winter/Holiday Music

April 28, 2015 in All Opportunities, Andy Saunders by newmusicscotland

NoteNova Publishing is accepting scores for sacred and secular winter/holiday choral compositions and arrangements for our Choral Writing Competition. The winner of this competition will receive an offer for publication and promotion in NoteNova’s featured winter catalog this year.

This competition is open to all ages and nationalities. Submitted pieces must be either unpublished or self-published. Recordings are not required, but strongly encouraged.

Pieces may be sacred or secular, but should be specifically appropriate for the winter/holiday season. Both original compositions and arrangements will be accepted, but proof of permission must be provided for any piece that includes text or music that is not in the public domain. Pieces of any difficulty will be considered – we are interested in artistic merit, independent of how technically advanced the piece may be. Pieces may be accompanied or unaccompanied, but accompanying forces should not exceed that of a small chamber ensemble.

Submission instructions:

Email PDF scores to, being sure to include your full name and a brief bio (500 words max) in the body of the email. While a live recording is not required, it is strongly encouraged to provide one. Recordings may be attached as MP3s or hosted on a streaming service (SoundCloud, Youtube, etc.) If a live recording is not available, MIDI renderings will be accepted. Composers may submit up to 2 works each.
