windsweptChris Hutchings mainly writes choral music, but also has a substantial output of chamber works and orchestral arrangements. His choral music has won several awards (most recently the Chigwell Choir Young Composers’ Competition 2014 for “Next Morning” and the New London Singers’ Composition Prize for “Speravi In Te”) and been performed by several choirs in the UK, US, Canada and even South Africa. In Scotland, choral performers of his work include the National Youth Choir of Scotland, Cappella Nova, Edinburgh Singers, Mackintosh Choir, and several university groups and church choirs; some of his chamber works have been performed by Daniel’s Beard, Pure Brass and the Kreisler Ensemble.

Chris studied at Cambridge, Hull and Glasgow, moving successively north each time. He is based in Edinburgh with his family.
