Claire McCue is a Glasgow-based composer and music educator. She studied with Rory Boyle at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, graduating with MMus distinction and several prizes, and then going on to win the West End Chamber Music Festival composition competition in 2012. Compositions have been performed by, amongst others, The Fidelio Trio, Red Note Ensemble, The Astrid Quartet, Musiclab, Alba Brass, Flercussion, Flutes En Route and Northern lights. Claire also enjoys collaborative work and working with other art forms.
Recent performances include works for The Astrid quartet with guest RSNO principal trombone Davur Juul Magnussen, Made-In-Scotland Edinburgh Festival Series, composers concert at the International Kodaly Institute Symposium in Hungary, an Capella piece for children’s choir in Ohio and several other choral pieces. Recent collaborations include a piece with choreographer /dancer Marc Brew, and visual artist Rachel Gadsden for “Cube of Curiosity” performed at the Liberty festival, Olympic Park, a piece for solo dancer, and “Shamal” a live art and music performance with short film.
Alongside composing, Claire is an active music educator specialising in the Kodaly teaching approach for early /middle years and teaches piano on the RCS Early years programme.
