CoMA Calls for Pieces

October 16, 2015 in All Opportunities, Composers by mwhiteside

All our calls for pieces are part of our Open Score project, providing artistically challenging yet technical accessible works for flexible ensembles including amateur players. Submissions are welcome from composers of any age and nationality. Selected works will be available for performance by CoMA ensembles and included in the CoMA Open Score Portal, to be launched at the Contemporary Music for All Festival (27 February – 6 March 2016) which will promote them worldwide. Feedback will be provided on all submissions.

Pieces for Open Score Ensemble

An opportunity for composers to write a work for an Open Score Ensemble, and to have their pieces performed as part of the Contemporary Music for All Festival at King’s Place by CoMA London Ensemble conducted by Gregory Rose. The selection panel will be chaired by Philip Cashian, Head of Composition at the Royal Academy of Music, London. Closing date 04/01/2016.

Pieces for Flexible Trio

An opportunity to write works for a flexible trio and to have your piece performed as part of the Contemporary Music for All Festival by a profession ensemble comprised of Rebecca Lenton (flute), Aisha Orazbayeva (violin) and Sophie Harris (cello). Whilst the initial performance will be by professional players on specific instruments, the works must be suitable for playing by amateurs (grade 5-7) and on a range of instruments, including string trio and wind trio. Closing date 04/01/2016.

Partsongs

Following calls specifically associated with the CoMA Summer Schools in 2014 and 2015, there is now an open invitation for submissions for our ongoing Partsong Book project, under the artistic direction of James Weeks. We are looking for fresh, exploratory, experimental approaches to the vocal medium (not a traditional-style Partsong) and welcome non-conventional notation, unusual vocal techniques, speech, movement, auxiliary instruments etc. Selected works will be included in a published CoMA Partsong Book. No closing date at present.

Full details are available at www.coma.org/calls and application forms are available from library@coma.org.
