Composers Concordance 6th Annual ‘Generations’ Concert & Composition Competition

Composers Concordance, a presenting organization for contemporary music with a 30-year history of cutting-edge concert programming in NYC, announces a call for scores. The event’s theme is ‘Generations,’ and will feature the music of acclaimed composers Kinan Azmeh, Charles Coleman, Dan Cooper, Patrick Grant, Daniel Palkowski, Milica Paranosic, Gene Pritsker, Daniel Schnyder, Aleksandra Vrebalov, Dorian Wallace, and Randy Woolf, as well as two competition winners: one composer age 25 or younger, and another composer age 65 or older. Presented in collaboration with Goddard Riverside Community Arts, the program will be performed by the CompCord Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Thomas Carlo Bo, Charles Coleman, and Arkady Leytush. Competition winners will be required to attend the concert, to be held on May 21st at 8pm at Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center, 250 West 65th Street, NYC.


All application materials must be received by April 21st, 2016;
No entry fee;

Two categories:
a.) composers age 25 or younger [ie. as of May 21st, 2016]
b.) composers age 65 or older [ie. as of May 21st, 2016]

Music should be scored for Chamber Orchestra:
OR any subset thereof;
Duration at most 5 minutes; only 1 entry per applicant please;

Percussion: only the following percussion will be available (no exceptions):
• glockenspiel, floor tom, 2 wood blocks, snare drum, tambourine, castanets, 1 large gong, 2 suspended cymbals, & 1 triangle;
• please consult the percussion notation key, recommended for all applicants;
