Composition Competition _ Celebrating Dorset

Bournemouth Sinfonietta Choir is delighted to announce a competition with a £500 prize for a work which will help us celebrate the people, heritage or landscape of Dorset.

The winning entry will be performed in a special concert in Shaftesbury on Saturday 18th June 2016.

Composition Competition – Requirements

Suggested length – around 10 minutes

The work may be a single continuous piece, or contain a number of movements

Text – Open choice

We are seeking a work that reflects an aspect of Dorset. This might take the form of either:

• The history, landscape, countryside, agriculture and country pursuits of Dorset• The sea and Jurassic Coast• Settings of words by Dorset authors

Forces The work should be for unaccompanied choir or with piano or organ accompaniment. Solos from within the choir may be incorporated but the work should principally feature the choir.
