COMPOSITION COMPETITION Works for Solo Guitar

work for solo guitar (no more than 15 minutes). No published, or previously awarded compositions should be submitted. Works must be composed for the six-stringed classical guitar. The real name of the composer should only appear on the first page of the submitted score(s).

Special attention will be given to works reflecting this year’s Spanish theme.

Submissions

Deadline: June 5, 2016

E-mail submissions in PDF format are preferred: d.godfrey@neu.edu.
If available, a recording of the submitted work is highly recommended and may also be forwarded via e-mail (MP3 audio file preferred).
A completed submission form (PDF) must be included.

Submission by regular mail should include one bound copy of the score and audio cd if available, along with the completed submission form (PDF). No works will be returned. Please do not send originals. Submit by mail to:

2016 Prize

Composers of any age or nationality may apply. The winning composition will be performed at Boston GuitarFest 2017. In addition to the free 5-day registration to GuitarFest 2017, the winner receives a $1,000 prize, along with travel and lodging support to attend the performance. The Composition Competition is supported by the New England Conservatory of Music, the Northeastern University Department of Music, and a special $300 gift from Apostolos Paraskevas.

Winners will be announced on the last day of the festival and posted online.
