In this second concert, Ensemble Alternance explore the music of three contemporary composers. Ricardo Nillni is interested in the purity of form and the work of visual artists such as Dan Flavin and Sol Lewitt. Geoffroy Drouin’s composition has its origins in the emotional and analytic drama of certain pieces by baroque sculptor Bernini. Brice Pauset, who eschews metaphor, intends that his music should write itself, in compositions that are polyphonically complex and which look to the medieval and baroque musical past.

Geoffroy Drouin Cinq méditations sur Le Bernin (UKP)
