French Ensemble Alternance join us for a series of two concerts. The first is dedicated to the music of French composer Raphaël Cendo, one of the leading exponents of saturated music. Rokh is an enormous mythological bird from the Thousand and One Nights, the keeper of the Tree of Knowledge of the Garden of Hesperides and symbol of renewal and immortality. Cendo explores the themes of life, death and resurrection through the work’s three movements.
