Fiddle & Piano Duo

Gráinne Brady & Tina Jordan Rees are an exciting and original fiddle and piano duo from Cavan and Clitheroe who are currently based in Glasgow.

Gráinne, from Co. Cavan in Ireland, moved to Glasgow to study a Masters in Maths and to pursue her love for music. Tina, from Clitheroe in Lancashire, graduated in 2011 from the RSAMD with a BA (Hons) in Scottish Music. She was a nominee in the ‘Composer of the Year’ category at the 2014 MC ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards and a nominee in the ‘Up and Coming Artist’ category at the same awards for 2013. She was a finalist in the prestigious BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year award in 2011.

The refreshing duo (who sometimes call themselves G&T) first met in a session at the Ben Nevis Bar in Glasgow 2011. Both have a love for tunes and so set up a duo in Autumn 2012. In 2013 the pair recorded an EP comprised solely of their own compositions. A brand new album, High Spirits, is out now.

Tickets are free but should be booked in advance via Chatelherault Country Park (01698 426213 or see link above.)

The concert is part of this year’s Young At Heart 2016, an arts festival for 50+ audiences. Live Music Now Scotland has teamed up once again withCultural Activities in South Lanarkshire to bring you five fabulous performances which will entertain you through a series of these short recitals at 2pm.
