Trumpet, accordion and tuba trio

Based in Glasgow, Granny Green has recently emerged as one of the most exciting and diverse new ensembles in Scotland. The trio of friends – Holly Boddice, Rachel Brown and Lizy Stirrat – met whilst studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Having all previously won solo and ensemble awards, they now complement each other in a mix of technical wizardry and, above all, musical talent. The core instrumentation of the group is trumpet, accordion and tuba, and with that, the Grannies have brought about a brand new and quirky sound, which naturally brings a contemporary feel to their world folk music.

Tickets are free but should be booked in advance via Lanark Memorial Hall Box Office (01555 667999 or see link above.)

The concert is part of this year’s Young At Heart 2016, an arts festival for 50+ audiences. Live Music Now Scotland has teamed up once again withCultural Activities in South Lanarkshire to bring you five fabulous performances which will entertain you through a series of these short recitals at 2pm.
