Flute, clarinet and bassoon trio

Introducing the warm and entertaining classical wind trio, Sirocco Winds, with Matthew Howells on flute, Charlie Sheppard-Vine on clarinet and Thomas Porter on bassoon.

Highlights for the young ensemble include playing live on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio Scotland, winning the Governors’ Recital Prize for Chamber Music 2014, and performing at the Commonwealth Gala Concert in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

They work closely with Live Music Now Scotland and in January 2015 performed a morning concert at the Usher Hall, where they played a colourful mix of Gershwin showtunes from Porgy and Bess, operatic duets by Beethoven and their version of Delibes Flower Duet from Lakmé (madefamous when it was used in a British Airways advert).

They’ve also performed recently for the residents of Leuchie House, a stately home which provides respite breaks for those with long term health conditions, as part of Live Music Now Scotland’s ongoing Leuchie Live series.

Their programme will take you around the world of the wind repertoire alongside some of their own original arrangements.

Tickets are free but should be booked in advance via Rutherglen Town Hall Box Office (0141 613 5700 or see link above.)

The concert is part of this year’s Young At Heart 2016, an arts festival for 50+ audiences. Live Music Now Scotland has teamed up once again withCultural Activities in South Lanarkshire to bring you five fabulous performances which will entertain you through a series of these short recitals at 2pm.
