Described in the Proms Guide as a ‘glowing, iridescent work (based on an Easter folk legend from the West of Scotland) and full of
dense harmonies and lucious textures’, it ranks as one of McLeod’s most inspired works.
‘The Scotsman’ described it as ‘Loaded with excitability and restless energy . . . .magically conjures up the mystery and fascination
of it religious theme’ whilst ‘The Herald’ called it ‘A beautiful and exciting piece’.
