One of the world’s leading brass quintets, Stockholm Chamber Brass presents a concert showcasing its legacy of commissions and arrangements for brass quintet in the unusual and historic setting of St Peter’s Kirk.

Music for voice has much in common with that for Brass, and here the quintet will perform two of their newest arrangements of vocal music: madrigals from the English Renaissance and in contrast, some of Schumann’s famous song cycle. Alongside these they perform their exhilarating transcription of Stravinsky’s Ragtime for 11 instruments.  Since its foundation in 1985 the ensemble has commissioned over 40 works for brass quintet and here they perform two, the UK première of Benjamin Staern’s Two Souls One Mind and Hellawell’s quintet from his series of Sound Carvings.  The programme is completed by a classic of the brass quintet repertoire, Malcom Arnold’s Quintet.
