Guildhall School of Music and Drama: MA in Opera-Making & Writing (in association with the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden) 2015-16

Late applications are still welcome for the Guildhall School’s MA in Opera-Making & Writing. This one year masters allows both writers and composers the opportunity to engage with opera-making at a deep level, with support from Guildhall’s composition, opera, drama and technical theatre departments. Writers and composers are paired up to develop new 25 minute chamber operas, fully staged each July as part of the school’s Opera Course at the Milton Court Studio Theatre. The programme is led by Guildhall’s Head of Composition, Professor Julian Philips together with writer Stephen Plaice, Writer-in-Residence at the Guildhall School. The programme has been established in partnership with the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, allowing MA students the opportunity to observe production rehearsals both on the main stage and smaller scale, in addition to seminar opportunities with creative artists working at ROH.
