Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival – hcmf// shorts open call for composers and performers

May 16, 2016 in All Opportunities, Composers, Performers by mwhiteside

hcmf// shorts is a series of short informal performances, which this year will take place all day on Monday 21 November 2016 in various venues across Huddersfield. Taking place on Free Monday, hcmf// shorts enjoys being scheduled on the busiest day of the Festival with an average of 2000 visitors each year. The day provides emerging artists with a valuable platform to perform for members of the public, media and key music industry representatives within a programme of events also featuring established artists.

hcmf// is currently developing the scheme for 2016 to extend our offer to shorts performers by providing mentoring and financial support. We will offer five successful applicants a grant to supplement travel and accommodation expenses. The financial support offered will be awarded on a case by case basis based on applicants’ costs.

Proposals are welcomed from all types of performers, and works can be especially composed or existing pieces. There are no age limits. Proposed programmes should be no longer than 20 minutes in duration.

hcmf// will provide:

Music stands, chairs and microphones (on request)

Piano (cannot be prepared)

PA: 16 channel desk, 4 speakers, CD play back
