Just Festival – Call for Performers

March 3, 2015 in All Opportunities, Performers by newmusicscotland

We are a registered charity and social enterprise based in Edinburgh. Most of our work is focused during the Fringe Festival, where we manage several performance spaces and deliver over 320 events over three weeks. Through theatre, music, dance, conversations and workshops we aim to celebrate the diversity of cultures, faiths, philosophies and ideas, challenge inequality and injustice, and create a space for communities to engage with each other in productive dialogue.

We have performers from all over the world involved in this year’s festival, but are very keen to provide a platform for Scottish-based musicians to showcase their talents. This section of the festival is called Scotland:Based. It will run over 5 dates (Aug 8th, 15th, 17th, 22nd & 24th) and is taking place in St.John’s church hall,Princes Street – Fringe venue 127. We would like to invite highly talented Scottish-based musicians to perform – we currently have three slots still available. Ideally we would like to find at least one individual/group who specialise in fusing traditional Scottish musical traditions with other traditions.

The venue seats 75 and all technical equipment and support is provided. We recruit professional stage managers but are also establishing a training/work placement programme for young unemployed people to gain practical skills in live events. There is a team of international volunteers who make the festival possible by assisting in all aspects of event delivery.
