Kappa Kappa Psi third annual Call for Scores

This spring, the Beta Omicron chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi will be holding their third annual Call for Scores (previously titles “Composition Competition”) to give composers a chance to see their works put into action!
Composers may submit pieces for wind band written at a high school level (grade 2-3). Pieces submitted will be performed by a reading band consisting of members of the Beta Omicron chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. Participants will receive a recording of their piece, as well as a feedback sheet from members of the ensemble.

Overview:
The purpose of this event is to encourage the creation of High School level
wind band works by modern composers, and encourage the exposure of
those works to local High School band programs. At the event, which will
occur in mid-April, a reading band composed of Brothers of the Beta
Omicron Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi at Arizona State University will play
and record each work that is submitted. Following the event, applicants
will receive a recording of their work and a feedback sheet from members
of the ensemble. Applicants will have the option to have their piece donated
to a local High School band to be performed in concert.

Rules
1. Submissions can be at most seven (7) minutes in length. There is no
minimum length requirement
2. The suggested level of music to be submitted is grade two (2) to three (3). A
chart describing the content present in each grade of music can be found
below.
3. The submission must be for band. Orchestral, small-ensemble, and
chamber compositions will not be accepted.
4. Only one (1) composition may be submitted per participant.
5. All scores and parts must be submitted by the deadline, applications not
submitted by the deadline will only be considered if time allows.
6. A ten (10) minute period shall be allowed for the performance of each
piece, followed by a five (5) minute discussion and reflection period.
7. All submissions must be original compositions.
8. All rights and privileges to scores submitted belong solely to the composer
except for the recordings made, which may be used for educational
purposes.
9. Recommended Instrumentation: Piccolo, Flute 1 and 2, Oboe, Bassoon, Bb
Clarinet 1, 2, and 3, Bb Bass Clarinet, Eb Alto Saxophone 1 and 2, Bb Tenor
Saxophone, Eb Baritone Saxophone, Bb Trumpet 1, 2, and 3, Horn in F 1 and
2, Trombone 1 and 2, Bass Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Percussion (as
many parts as needed).
