CAMAC Artist Residency is now welcoming applications !

Description of artist residency program
CAMAC is a non-profit organization that welcomes artists from all around the world to its lodgings and studios to research and create new works in a unique setting of a XVII century old priory in Marnay sur Seine.

The village of Marnay-sur-Seine has 250 inhabitants and is located between the banks of the river Seine and the old transport canal whom barges were once used to transport wheat and wood to Paris. Conveniently nestled at the cross roads of the Champagne region, the Parisian region of Ile de France, and Burgundy, participants to CAMAC program can benefit from the French countryside without being cut off the cosmopolitan richness of Paris.

The artist residency program aims to bring together artists in mid or advanced career stages from all countries and all disciplines (writing, painting, sculpture, architecture , design, multimedia and video art, new technologies, installation art, music, dance, etc) for a concentrated period of one or two months. This programme aims to support residents in their creative explorations, investigations and professional growth within an environment of communication and exchange.

The artist residency program is open from March to December.

Duration of residency
The duration of this residency program is for a period of one or two months between March and December.

Disciplines supported and technical information

The artist residency program aims to bring together artists in mid or advanced career stages from all countries and all disciplines (writing, painting, sculpture, architecture , design, multimedia and video art, new technologies, installation art, music, dance, etc).

Accommodation
Artist will live in a private bedroom with private bathroom. A cook makes dinner from Monday to Friday and the rest of the time is on a self-serve basis in the common kitchen. A common dining area is at their disposal too.

Studio/ workspace
Artist will work in a private equiped studio with 24/24 access.

Fees and support
CAMAC is a non-profit organization, mostly funded through the residency program. The residency fees for one month is generally between 1200 euros and 1500 euros.

The fee covers :
• A private bedroom and bathroom.
• Food.
• 24h/24h access to a private studio and utilities
• Organization and promotion of Open Studios at the end of the residency for the public
• Online promotion of the artists experience via CAMAC website and Facebook.
• Daily support for project logistics from CAMAC personnel. Once on site, only spending will be for own entertainment and personal requirements and the working material. Artist will have to find fundings to cover the residency fees. CAMAC engages itself to help him/her in any possible way in him/her research for funding.

Expectations towards the artist
At the end of the work period, CAMAC organises Open Studios for the artists to give a public presentation of their work.

Selection process
The selection of the artists is done by our artistic comitee. Its decision is motivated by the quality of the project, its adequacy to camac’s philosophy and environment, as well as by the applicant’s pastachievement.
