Opportunity for New Music Artist or Composer

August 7, 2015 in All Opportunities, Composers by newmusicscotland

Audience Labs is a programme offering the opportunity for multiple projects to test ways of growing audiences for new music simultaneously, sharing the results with each other and the wider sector. The programme is open to anyone based in or producing work in England and provides the tools, support and funding needed to explore audience behaviour.

What is it?

6 months + 6 projects + 6 outcomes = 1 collective understanding
Audiences are fundamental. They dedicate their time and money to listening and attending. Audience Labs is a new way to explore connecting with the people who make up new music audiences. From testing new ways of communicating with them to new ways of presenting music for them, it’s all about how we can engage with new audiences and provide deeper experiences.
The key components of Audience Labs:
• Funding (where applicable)
• Regular check-ins: including workshops and networking events for Lab members.
• The tools and support you need: we’re here to help support you to explore audiences to the fullest.

Who is it for?

Audience Labs is open to anyone, from individuals to organisations, from any sector, who wants to understand more about who their new music audiences are or could be. All you need is an interest in growing your audience and we’ll provide support for the rest.
What we’re looking for.
We are interested in working to better understand and grow audiences for new music on both an individual and national scale.
We expect that all projects will show a commitment to utilising data in a significant way to understand more about audiences.
• All Audience Labs activity must take place between October 2015 and April 2016, primarily within England.
• All projects must show a commitment to the sharing of their trial/experimentation, in an accessible way, with the wider sector.
• There is a limited amount of funding available and we look to include a mix of funded and non-funded projects in the Audience Labs.
Sound and Music actively seeks to encourage applications from a diverse range of candidates.
