SMCO 2016 Chamber Music Composition Competition

Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra seeks scores suitable for chamber ensemble or small orchestra for two competition categories. One winning work in each category will be chosen for premiere on February 27, 2016, and each winning composer will be awarded $200 USD and video and audio recordings. There is no application fee.

2016 International Composition Competition for Young Composers. Composers 34 years of age and under, residing anywhere in the world are invited to apply. The head judge in this category is composer Huck Hodge, recipient of the Rome Prize, Guademus Prize, the Bogliasco Foundation’s Aaron Copland Fellowship, and other awards.

2016 Local Composers Competition. Composers of any age residing in the states of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho are invited to apply. The winner of this category will be chosen by a committee of SMCO musicians chaired by Music Director Geoffrey Larson and composer and oboist Ursula Sahagian.
