St Andrews Call for Scores

The  St Andrews Music Centre in co-operation with the Scottish Music Centre, the Maginni Quartet, Richard Craig (flautist) and composer Jeremy Thurlow are looking for new music to be workshopped and performed in St Andrews throughout 2015.

Composers of any age and nationality are invited to submit music for one or both of the follow instrumental combinations:

1) String octet (4vl, 2vla 2vc)

Works selected from this instrumental combination will be workshopped  (including an informal performance) by the St Andrews Scholarship String Quartet and the Maggini Quartet on Friday 13th February. At least one score will be selected for a performance in a concert of Jeremy Thurlow’s music given by the St Andrews New Music Ensemble in November 2015.

2) Flute with live or pre-recorded electronics

Works selected from this instrumental combination will be workshopped  (including an informal performance) by Richard Craig (flute) and Jonathan Kemp (electronics) on Thursday 5th February. Pieces may be written for c flute or bass flute, and include clear instructions for the electronic part: Max patches are preferred but any software based processing will be accepted. Where pre-recorded parts are supplied, please send a dropbox link to *.wav files and include any instructions for diffusion.

At least three scores will be selected by for each instrumental combination. Pieces must not have previously been performed and should be between 3 and 7 minutes long.
