TEMPO Call for Scores

TEMPO, the New Music Ensemble at the University of Maryland, College Park, is pleased to announce this

competitive call for scores for its March 22, 2016 concert at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in

College Park, MD. This call is open to composers of all ages; there is no entry fee to apply.

Submissions should be 5–15 minutes in duration and scored for 2–7 performers. Instrumentation may be

a combination of any of the following: violin (1-2), viola, cello, contrabass, flute (doubling piccolo), oboe

(doubling English horn), clarinet (doubling bass clarinet), saxophone, bassoon, horn, trumpet (1-2),

trombone, tuba, piano, percussion (1-2). Works requiring a conductor will also be considered.

Compositions may have been previously performed.

Please submit an anonymous PDF score; include a phone number and remove all other identifying marks.

Also submit a recording in MP3 format, if available; MIDI renderings will be accepted but are not

encouraged. Only one submission per composer will be accepted.

All materials should be submitted electronically to tempo.nme@gmail.com. Large files may be shared

via file-sharing sites (Dropbox, Google Docs, etc). Include your name, phone number, and email address

in the body of your message. Submissions must be received by 11:59 PM on January 15, 2016.

Submissions will be reviewed by members of the TEMPO organizing committee. Up to three selected

composers will be will be notified on February 1, 2016, and parts will be due by February 15, 2016.

Selected composers will receive a performance and a live recording from TEMPO’s March 22, 2016

concert. TEMPO cannot provide funding for travel or lodging; however, every effort will be made to

secure home-stays for out-of-town composers, and all selected composers are highly encouraged to

attend.
