The Really Terrible Orchestra Emerging Composers Competition

February 3, 2016 in All Opportunities, Composers by mwhiteside

The RTO Emerging Composers Competition has a first prize of £1,000 and has been launched to celebrate its 20 year anniversary. Although there is no age restriction, the competition is primarily aimed at composers who are learning their profession or have perhaps recently left education and are starting to make their way into the world of professional music. The music has to be for full orchestra, but more importantly, it has to be playable by The RTO, a full orchestra with players of mixed skill levels. It is probably at school orchestra level – maybe with less skills but more enthusiasm. There are more details on the relevant page of the RTO website. It is a great opportunity for budding composers as we will also play their music if they win and may also give them the chance to rehearse the orchestra if they wish.
