The Sleeper Society – call for works

December 11, 2015 in All Opportunities, Composers, electroacoustic by mwhiteside

The Sleeper Society is a Cardiff-based sound art event, with roots firmly embedded in experimental electronic music. We aim to showcase an international programme of performance, interactive and fixed-media works, within an informative, friendly and productive environment for audiences to discover new artists, and artists to discover new audiences.

We are inviting composers to submit their compositions to be presented at our next event at From Now On Festival on the 14th of February 2016 – a festival that celebrates innovative new music held at Cardiff’s Chapter Arts Centre. Submissions can consist of finished pieces, works in progress, or even ideas for a performance or installation. All works must be completed in time for performance and multi-speaker performances will also be considered.

Please submit your work to A panel will meet in mid-January to consider submissions and decide on the programme. In your submission, please include a download link to a .zip file containing:

• A recording of the piece

• A short bio (300 words max.)

• A short description of the piece (300 words max.)

*** Please Note ***

The deadline for application is Monday 4th of January 2016.

We can offer a modest contribution towards travel expenses for performers.

We can’t wait to hear your work!

Press reception “From Now On” Festival:

“Cardiff often gets left off the list of cities to tour, particularly for musicians at the more experimental end of the spectrum. But green shoots spring forth in the form of From Now On, brining more esoteric approaches to rock, psych and composition to south Wales.”

The Guardian

“One of the most exciting and cutting edge contemporary music festivals to emerge.”
