TorQ Percussion Seminar – Call for scores

April 27, 2016 in All Opportunities, Composers by mwhiteside

TorQ Percussion Quartet is once again welcoming submissions from composers for our annual Composition Competition. This contest is run in conjunction with our summer TorQ Percussion Seminar (July 30-August 7), held in conjunction with the Stratford Summer Music Festival in Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

Submissions for 3-8 person percussion chamber pieces are encouraged. (Quartets are encouraged, as should your piece be chosen, TorQ Percussion Quartet may contact you about the possibility of future performances by the group.) Though there are no official instrument limitations, please keep in mind that extensive instrument requirements may limit the feasibility of performance for the winning submissions. For this reason, we suggest (but do not require) that compositions avoid the use of timpani, tubular bells, and specialized electronic elements.

First prize is $400 CAD and a performance as part of the Seminar; runner-up pieces will be performed as part of the Seminar. There is no entry fee for this competition.
