Repertoire Tuireadh, by Sir James MacMillan
Description
Scottish Chamber Orchestra Principal Clarinet Maximiliano Martín performs MacMillan’s heartrending tribute to the victims of the 1988 Piper Alpha disaster. Tuireadh is the Gaelic for lament or requiem; inspired by traditional Scottish music, this poignant work encapsulates the torrent of grief unleashed by the tragedy.
Also performed for this concert Britten Phantasy Quartet and Prokofiev Quintet.
Filmed at The Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh, this concert will be broadcast via SCO’s YouTube and Facebook channels.
The concert will be available until the 4th April on the SCO Website.
