Free online workshop open to composers of all levels.

Laura Bowler and Sam Redway leads a session on composing for text and working with a librettist.

6-7pm including approx. 40 min talk with a Q&A session at the end. Please note that although we try to wrap-up opensound sessions by 7pm, they often run over by 5-10 mins.

Laura Bowler, described as “a triple threat composer-performer provocatrice”, is a composer, vocalist and artistic director specialising in theatre, multidisciplinary work and opera.

She has been commissioned across the globe by ensembles and orchestras including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, ROH2, Opera Holland Park, The Opera Group, Manchester Camerata, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Quatuor Bozzini (Canada), Ensemble Phace (Austria), Ensemble Linea (France), Omega Ensemble (Australia) and others.

Sam Redway is a dramaturg, librettist and director working in theatre and opera. He is the Creative Director/Dramaturg of Knaïve Theatre , Associate Artist of Smoking Apples Theatre Company, a trained artist mentor with Greater Manchester Artist Hub, and producer for the Royal Exchange Theatre.
