Description

Keening – Song of the Stranding is a multidisciplinary art project commemorating and memorializing the pilot whale mass stranding that occurred in July 2023 on Traigh Mhòr Beach (Tolsta), Isle of Lewis (Outer Hebrides). Led by Sam Gare (visual artist, Isle of Harris) and myself in collaboration with Aya Kobayashi (choreographer), and musicians Katherine Wren and Nerea Bello, the project culminates in a day of participatory events and performances on Traigh Mhòr and North Tolsta Community Hall on 12 July 2025.
