Jungle High Street
Oliver Searle

Description

Short work for wind orchestra

This work was inspired by a statement (which included the title phrase) from a documentary about elephants.
It instantly made me think of urban life (Sauchiehall Street on a Saturday night, for example), with creatures of various shapes and sizes moving in and out of view. To cement this mixture of man-made and natural objects, I have drawn on references to dance music (in this case, Jungle/Drum and Bass).
