New Music Scotland (NMS) hosts a series of dynamic peer-to-peer sessions designed to bring together professionals from across Scotland’s new music community. These informal yet focused gatherings create space to exchange ideas, share experiences, and tackle the challenges facing the sector.

Peer to Peer Session 1: How to better collaborate to increase commissioning for Scottish composers and performances of new music throughout Scotland.

This session will allow participants to discuss the challenges involved in commissioning and getting multiple performances for new work, and explore how commissioners and promoters might work closer together to create more opportunities.

Who is it for?

Promoters, producers, ensembles, organisations and artists involved in commissioning and organising performances of new music.

What will it cover?

This session will explore key questions and shared challenges, including:

- The current environment for new music performances
- The challenges involved in getting works commissioned and toured
- Possibilities for collaborating to help get more work off the ground
