Call for delegates to UNM Denmark festival 2026
Deadline: 16 Jun 2026
As part of Scotland’s involvement in the 2024 edition of Nordic Music Days, a connection was established with Ung Nordisk Musik (UNM), which is the region’s
network of composers and creative musicians under the age of 30.
Four composers travelled to Örebro, Sweden, as delegates to the UNM festival in August 2024. They attended workshops, talks, and concerts, got to know delegates and music
from throughout the Nordic region, and explored opportunities to work together in the future. In 2025, two Scottish composers travelled to Helsinki to spend a week at the UNM festival in Finland.
The next UNM festival will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 10 until 15 August, 2026. As well as performances and workshops, there will also be a professional
development programme with panel discussions, talks, and career advice sessions.
Once again, a small number of delegates will be supported by the Scottish Government’s Nordic Office and Art Music Scotland to travel in order to take part in the
festival.
Composers, sound artists, improvisers, and creative musicians working with art music, who are under the age of 30 on 30 August 2026 and have been resident in Scotland for
at least 18 months at the date of application, are invited to apply to participate.
Applicants must be available to spend at least 3 nights in Copenhagen during the festival dates, with the intention of attending events in the festival programme and
representing Scotland at this international event. Travel, accommodation and per diems will be covered. Individuals from traditionally under-represented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.
The final number of delegates will depend on travel costs at the time of selection, but the intention is for 4-6 delegates to be able to attend. Please note that the intention is for accommodation to be in twin rooms in order to allow as many people as possible to participate.
Applications will close on 16th June at midnight, and applicants will be notified by the middle of the following week. To apply please complete the form at
